We Can Solve Your Radon Problem

We at Radone ultilize various types of radon reduction systems tailored to your specific home needs.

Some of these systems include

  • Exterior installed radon mitigation system
  • Attic installed mitigation systems
  • Passive radon mitigation systems (ventilation) for "crawlspaces"
  • Active soil depressurization (ASD) radon mitigation systems.

Types of suction systems .

There are five main types of suction systems: Sub-slab depressurization, drain tile, sub-membrane, block wall and passive (in order of most to least common).

Active sub-slab suction (SSD) is the most common and one of the most reliable systems. It draws radon-filled air from beneath the house before it has a chance to penetrate the home and vents it outside.

Passive sub-slab suction is commonly used in new construction and relies on natural air currents instead of a fan to draw radon from underneath the home (this is not very effective and is recommended to get your house tested if it has a passive system).

If a home uses a drain tile system to drain water and expel it away from the foundation, suction on the drain tile can reduce radon levels (this is one of the most effective systems due to using the drain tiles pathways to extract radon before it enters your home). During the use of this system, covers are placed on sump pump baskets and sealed to make air tight and allow both sump and radon systems to function effectively.

Sub-membrane systems are utilized in a crawlspace or open floor area of your home with exposed dirt. They require a plastic sheeting to be sealed over the dirt and a pipe placed under connected to a fan to draw radon from underneath the sheeting and expel it outside of the home. This type of system is generally used in conjunction with a SSD system in a home.

Block wall suction systems are used in homes with hollow block foundations by placing a suction point into a wall this is similar to a SSD, where radon is removed from the wall by depressurization. This is a very unique system and would only be used in very unique cases.

As you can see we keep our systems as hidden as possible so you never have to worry about it!
